Hello everyone, today’s track was introduced to me by my brother, and his advice once again is very correct. “Stuck in My Id” by Reptar is a very catchy song and sounds sort of like the aspects of Foster the People that I enjoy. It’s a very electronic, funky, dance song that really gets my feet tapping. The group hails from the greater Athens-Atlanta-Asheville area and formed back in 2008 and is yet to release a studio album. That being said this track was on their EP OblangleFizz Y’all which dropped in 2011. Anyway give this funky, electronic, dance beat a chance and hopefully you liken them. As always, listen rate and subscribe. These guys will be in Minneapolis on the 3rd of April, and you can bet your ass that I’ll be there.
Hello all, way back in may Ross brought you a remix of Wonderman, which is another good track by Tinie Tempah, but today I’m throwing this one at you as it may be his most well known track that you’ve probably never heard of. Why haven’t you heard it yet you may ask. Well, even though he’s pretty big in the UK (he’s from South London) he really hasn’t broken onto the scene in the states. This song in particular brings many things to mind because it has recently become the theme for Sky Sport’s [Ford] Super Sunday for the Barclay’s Premier League and comes off of his 2011 album Disc-Overy. This song is an excellent mix of the electronic bits you know I love, catchy lyrical work, and the bonus of a well-formulated rap (which serves as a nice bonus in this song). Anyway, if you haven’t heard this song definitely give it a listen and let us know what you think.
“Written in the Stars” – by Tinie Tempah feat. Eric Turner
Hello everyone on this beautiful Sunday morning. This morning I’m presenting you guys with a song that I heard about a year ago by DJ Roger Shah (electronic production) and Inger Hansen (vocals). This particular song hits me in a sappy way about a girl. Roger Shah has done a lot of work in the techno/trance world, and is renowned as one of the world’s best electronic producers. When you mix his lucrative beats with the sultry Norwegian accent that Inger’s vocals contain, you get a recipe for a catchy and great song only made better by the lyrics. I present to you Don’t Wake Me Up by DJ Shah and Inger Hansen.
Hell everyone, today I’m bringing you one of my favorite tracks from Two Door Cinema Club. The catchy guitar riffs along with awesomely bright lyrics make this song the prefect recipe for a song. Two Door Cinema Club is from Donaghadee, Northern Ireland, UK (seriously this isn’t funny anymore, I think I’m an addict). This particular song doesn’t come from their album, but was released as a single in Novemeber of 2010. I first heard these guys when my roommate showed me this song in late October, and I fell in love with it instantly. Give this song a listen rate and subscribe.
Hello everyone, I am returning from my sabbatical of work, work, and more work to share with you a song that has been in my head for an entire week. This song comes to you from the band Neon Indian, out of Denton, Texas. These guys almost epitomize the genre of “Chillwave” To quote Wikipedia directly, “Chillwave, sometimes also referred to as Glo-Fi, is a genre of music where artists are often characterized by their heavy use of effects processing, synthesizers, looping, sampling, and heavily filtered vocals with simple melodic lines.” You’ll get it when you listen to the track. These guys are similar to one of my other favorite bands, Crystal Castles. As my brother describes this genre of music as “glorified 8-bit” it tends to sound like you are listening to some good electronic music while your little brother plays his NES at full volume in the next room. Give this one a listen, it’s pretty catchy and has been ringing through my head for the last week.
Hello everyone, I figured I’d keep you in the know about this song, which you may have heard already or not. The first time I heard this song, was sitting outside with friends just relaxing. This song came on, and I was unable to stop my foot from tapping. All in all, this song is pretty simple, yet catchy. This song is brought to you by Duck Sauce, an American-Canadien DJ duo. This one peaked at 89 on the charts in the States, but across the pond, it broke top 5 and took the top spot in Austria and the Netherlands. If you don’t enjoy the 2 words that are in this song, I honestly think you …. I will keep my feelings to myself on that one. Anyway, enjoy “Barbra Streisand” by Duck Sauce.
Hey everyone, I hope you all had a great 4th of July weekend. The weather was absolutely fantastic (at least in Minnesota it was). Unfortunately, now that I am back to real life, this blog is one of the few things I get to look forward to. Anyway, my track for you today from the French DJ and Producer Martin Solveig. Just like most things that become popular nowadays, it’s starts with a catchy beat, and features the Canadien group Dragonette. The upbeat lyrics and catchy melody in this song make it just one of many songs that are perfect for a summer anthem.
Today I got a sweet electro-dance group for you guys. To me, this band kind of resembles Passion Pit with mellower vocals, but Starfucker definitely has their own unique sound. ”Millions” comes off of the group’s album “Reptilians,” which was released this past March. Just like Brian’s earlier post from Crystal Castles, this track sounds like it came off a Super Nintendo video game. There is also a super tight breakdown about a minute and a half into the song. I’m definitely digging this song, but be sure to take a listen to the whole album with other catchy songs like “Bury Us Alive” and “Mystery Cloud.”
