Hello all, way back in may Ross brought you a remix of Wonderman, which is another good track by Tinie Tempah, but today I’m throwing this one at you as it may be his most well known track that you’ve probably never heard of. Why haven’t you heard it yet you may ask. Well, even though he’s pretty big in the UK (he’s from South London) he really hasn’t broken onto the scene in the states. This song in particular brings many things to mind because it has recently become the theme for Sky Sport’s [Ford] Super Sunday for the Barclay’s Premier League and comes off of his 2011 album Disc-Overy. This song is an excellent mix of the electronic bits you know I love, catchy lyrical work, and the bonus of a well-formulated rap (which serves as a nice bonus in this song). Anyway, if you haven’t heard this song definitely give it a listen and let us know what you think.
“Written in the Stars” – by Tinie Tempah feat. Eric Turner
Today I’m bringing you a brand new single, “Stomp Through,” from my favorite new Minneapolis artist, Mally. This guy loves to rep his hometown of Minneapolis and is bringing something new and different to our local hip-hop scene everyday. Mally has been doing work over the past year, coming out with music videos for his hit songs “Cloud Culture” and “Heir Time” and getting recognized in the Star Tribune’s article “First Ave’s Other Best New Bands.” The guy’s got big future plans too as he is touring with Atmosphere and other well recognized local hip-hop artists for the Welcome To Minnesota Tour. I think that’s enough hype from me, so I’ll let you guys get to the music. Enjoy “Stomp Through!”
Yes, everyone and there mother has heard “Fuck You” or “Forget you” if you’re still in the dark ages of only listening to radio. But who knew that Cee Lo’s Album The Lady Killer, had alot more to offer. I’ll be honest, I can can dance to “Fuck You” just like the next man, but there are many other songs on the album that surpass the catchiness of that explicitly named song. “It’s OK” has a very similar sound to the popular song that everyone knows (Trying not to be too profane tonight), but actually has better vocals in my opinion. Anyway, I’d also like to point out that ROSS HAS MISSED HIS LAST 2 POSTS, which makes him extremely lame, hopefully he actually checks the blog and sees this… Anyway, rate subscribe and share.
P.S. He may look like a Ninja Turtle, but I love the Ninja Turtles
We’ve got some brand new Brother Ali for you guys to give a listen to today. This track is a single off of Ali’s upcoming album “Mourning in America and Dreaming in Color” which should be released in the spring. This will definitely be an album to pick up when it drops, especially for fans of Minneapolis hip-hop. Enjoy!
Take a listen to this dope track by Toronto artist Harr1s (also know as H1 or P. Harris). I love this track because of its classic hip-hop feel and I have to give producer Mister Mista props for this beat. Harr1s also does mad work on “Shout Out To…” Toronto has a really sick underground hip-hop scene, and there are a lot of good up-and-coming rappers that should definitely be heard. I’ve already told you guys about Brandon Dramtic, but be sure to check out Double X, Jake Bluez, and more tracks by Harr1s. Enjoy the track “Shout Out To…”
Today I’m bringing you a new track from up-and-coming Chicago MC Add-2. He released a brand new mixtape last week called “One Missed Call” and it doesn’t disappoint. Add-2 really knows how to flow on any track he’s given and this track, “Gotdamn,” is no different. The production of this beat by J-Rell is very solid too. I’m always excited when Add-2 drops new music because his stuff is always fire. Be sure to keep up to date on Add-2′s music on his bandcamp page.
Over the summer, I have become obsessed with the show Community and happened to find out that actor Donald Glover (Troy) is also a rapper under the name Childish Gambino. Who knew? Well here’s one of his songs called “Freaks and Geeks.” I really like the beat on this track. Still not sure if I like his content, but some of the lines are pretty funny and I think he does have some skills. Let me know what you guys think. If you’re not watching the TV show Community, you better start now!
Today’s track is a little bit dated (it was released last summer) but nonetheless is still a great one. Up until 2010, Big Boi was best known as being 1/2 of the widely successful hip hop duo OutKast. However, he started carving out a name for himself with the release of “Sir Lucious Left Foot: The Son of Chico Dusty” which came out in July of last year. Today’s track “Follow Us” is one of my favorites from that album, and features Atlanta hip hop/alternative artists Vonnegutt. Enjoy!
