“Don’t Gotta Work it Out” and “Winds of Change” – Fitz and the Tantrums

Hello everyone, today I’m throwing a double feature at you to make up for my fellow bloggers inability to post as of late. I know some of you are probably thinking “I’ve heard this song before and it’s good” well you’re right, but I’m posting them because these guys are some of the break-up music you can possibly imagine.  Hard hitting yet not depressed, and the lyrics stir up some pretty awesome ragings inside of me (this was my personal experience a few months back when I was coming out of a relationship, but alas, I digress and it was all for the best anyway).  For those who don’t know Fitz and the Tantrums, they are a tantalizing mixture of soul and indie music genres.  They formed in 2008 and are based out of Los Angeles, CA.  These particular tracks comes off of their album Pickin’ up the Pieces which is the groups first and only studio album which dropped on August 24th 2010.  Anyway, these songs exhibit very different aspects to both of them.  The first, “Don’t Gotta Work it Out” is slightly faster and more hard hitting and great for countering the feeling when someone has wronged you.  The second, “Winds of Change” is a bit slower, but still has a certain intensity and a beautiful lyrical verse which pair together to make an awesome almost ballad feel with a great Bari-Sax bass line which stirs up completely different emotions in me.
