Cut Copy – February 21, 2011

We’re totally stoked about this week’s artist of the week, Cut Copy! With a sound reminiscent of Daft Punk, this Australian group features heavy synth, bass and electronic sounds. The band formed in 2001, but didn’t release a debut album until 2004. Since then, they have produced three excellent albums, with their latest effort “Zonoscope” dropping just two weeks ago. Cut Copy has seemingly mastered the art of making great dance music. As I was listening to their catalog, I was surprised at how many songs I recognized, never realizing it was them I was listening to. Cut Copy has been active on the world stage, playing such festivals as Lollapalooza and Coachella. They are schedule to headline Free Press Summer Fest this upcoming summer, alongside such groups as Weezer, Yeasayer and Ween. We hope you enjoy their sound all through the week!

For Tuesday’s selection, “Hearts On Fire” is another fun dance song off the same album “In Ghost Colours.” The bass gets you dancing, while the vocals keep the track laid-back.
