Lupe Fiasco- February 28, 2011

This week’s artist of the week is one of our favorite rappers, Lupe Fiasco!  Born and raised in Chicago, Lupe has quickly become one of the more popular mainstream hip-hop artists in this decade.  What makes Lupe a great rapper is that he loves to inspire, educate, and motivate through his music.  He doesn’t rap about how much money, cars or girls he has, but rather he tells stories about events that have meaning.  Whether they are real-life stories or stories about the problems in the world, Lupe always has something to say. So far, Fiasco has released two full-length albums: “Food and Liquor” in 2006, and “The Cool” in late 2007.  Since those albums, he has received many awards including a Grammy.  Even better is that his new album “Lasers” is scheduled to be released March 8.  This is perhaps his most anticipated musical work, and  has received a lot of hype around the internet and on iTunes.  We’re so stoked to feature Lupe Fiasco this week.

“I Gotcha” is a really fun song off of Lupe’s album, “Food and Liquor.” Pharell makes a few appearances as well.

I love today’s track, simply because it’s so so chill. Starting off with haunting chords and background vocals, this track progresses and takes on an electronic element by the end. Enjoy!

Bummed that it’s the last day of Lupe on here, but for the last track we have “I’m Beamin'” off his new album “Lasers.” Hope you enjoyed Lupe Fiasco this week!
