After a few weeks of hip hop and alternative artists, we’re going with indie rockers The Rural Alberta Advantage as this week’s artist of the week! These guys formed in Toronto in 2005 and have produced one LP and two EPs to date. The Rural Alberta Advantage is signed to Saddle Creek Records, home to such bands as Tokyo Police Club and Bright Eyes. This Canadian trio is known for their distinct sound, which features acoustic guitars, synths, and thumping drums. Lead singer Nils Edenloff, a native Albertan, often sings songs about the simple life of living in a small town. His plainspoken lyrics focuses on relationships and friends of the past. If you dig what you hear from these guys, make sure to check out their next album “Departing” which is set to drop March 1st. We hope you enjoy this week’s artist of the week!
Our first track of this week is “Drain the Blood” an awesome song off of their 2009 release “Hometowns.” This song rocks hard and is the perfect pick way to start off your week.

Today’s track is called “Frank AB.” It’s a pretty mellow feeling song that grooves also.

Today’s track is “Edmonton”, a track in which lead singer Nils Edenloff harnesses his inner Billy Corgan of Smashing Pumpkins. Enjoy this great track!

A gloomy, foggy Thursday morning made me think of this song, “Don’t Haunt This Place.” Sick drums and soothing vocals make the song.

It’s Friday, hooray! Celebrate by giving a listen to today’s song “Stamp” which has an awesome drum part, like most of these guy’s songs. Enjoy!

The track today is another jammin’ song that reminds me a little of “Drain The Blood.” “The Dethbridge In Lethbridge” features rockin’ drums and shouting vocals, which make it an energetic track.
